My indonesian grandpa was once a refugee in Japan befoe the war, he went there due to the Dutch colonialists to which i developed a deep respect and gratitude to the Japanese people.
As a Buddhist, i feel at home in the Japanese appreciation for silence, subtlety, and mindfulness. The calm, respectful energy of Japanese communities resonates with me profoundly, reminding me that strength and connection often live in quiet moments. Japan's harmony with nature, its rituals, and its gentle approach to life inspire me every day.
And my great honor for what they had done for my people in WW2 to which i go every year to offer my respect towards hirohito his grave with flowers i lay out of respect.
